The Broken Dream of the Heart of America: the Showdown

Does the government — specifically President Obama — even need a debt ceiling?

Some analysts say no — Obama can simply order the Treasury to pay its bills even if Congress refuses to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling.

“Preventing default is no less justified

than using American military power to protect against an armed invasion without a congressional declaration of war,”

Bruce Bartlett writes in Fiscal Times.

Like others, Bartlett cites a section of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that says,

“The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law … shall not be questioned.”

“This could easily justify the sort of extraordinary presidential action to avoid default that I am suggesting,”

Bartlett writes.

Garrett Epps, writing on The Atlantic’s website,

said Obama could give a speech saying he has ordered Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to

“begin issuing binding debt instruments on the world market

sufficient to cover all the current obligations of the United States government,

even in default of congressional action to meet those obligations.”

Writing in the form of an Obama speech, Epps said the debt provision of the 14th Amendment

“makes clear that both the monies our nation owes to bondholders,

and the sums promised in legislation to those receiving pensions set by law from the federal government,

must be paid regardless of the political whims of the current congressional majority.”

“…..This is the Petition to make Stone Mountain in Atlanta
a National Monument,
for this gesture will assuredly Heal our divided Nation,
and undo the present impasse in Washington DC,
My prayer is that Congress must also approve
and agree, in the making of Stone Mountain
into a National Monument with it’s Vote:
after which our President shall then sign it into existence.
No longer a Confederate landmark of division and hatred,
but a place of healing for national reconciliation,
and perennial peace.
Thus it will be a magnanimous gesture of real unity of
North and South
by our first Black President,
to all the Citizens of this great Nation.
This single gesture will show all who doubted our President as proof:
he is larger and more Generous in Vision
than those who seek to keep us small
and unenlightened in our national self interest,
and abjectly petty in our inner perspective.
May the light of real understanding now begin
to Rise and Shine on our nation!!!…..”

“……I would say it a little differently – that the Republicans went from conservatism to fascism.

Fascism is a special breed of fanaticism…..”

The legacy of ted cruz and his satanic father; both men of Belial and acolytes of Mammon....

The legacy of the false Christ Ted Cruz and his satanic father; both men of Belial and acolytes of Mammon….seeking to destroy America from within, with the resurrection unto damnation of the Confederacy: the New Insurrection and Corporate funded Treason of the GOP

The distinction being that fascism (according the 1976 version of the New World Dictionary) embraces

“a philosophy or system of government that advocates or exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right,

typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with an ideology of belligerent nationalism”.

In my mind that perfectly describes the Republican mantra…..”

Thus did I lift the pen to begin the arduous task to transform what has become the end of democracy for the United States, and the endless stalemate in Washington DC in which a handful of men have decided to destroy America for the principle of utter selfishness.
These men have decided to destroy America, and, in fact,
have actually hastened the end of the Vision in which we all became united,
not so long ago; when Dr. King made our Nation pass the Civil Rights Act three days after he was killed.
But it does show that conscience can be active even in the worst.
Victor Hugo said “Conscience is God in Man”,
but I say it is the Angel in Man,
and a close enough approximation for most, in any case.
There are those who will say that it was hardly possible for a dead man to do this,
but they don’t know much about Martin Luther King, or the God of Samuel,
under whose Eagle’s Wings this Nation rose as a David against the Goliath of the British Empire.
On August 30th we saw something on the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King’s speech that was unprecedented.
Let us not forget the mention of Stone Mountain by Dr. King  in that speech.
Let us look at what was written by writer Ken Watts,

STONE MOUNTAIN — On the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, bells rang from Stone Mountain to Washington and around the world.
The bell-ringing and speeches by President Barack Obama, King’s children and family members, foot soldiers of the civil rights movement, and local officials commemorated the now famous speech made from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on April 28, 1963, that helped galvanize public support for civil rights legislation during a historic decade.
In DeKalb County, about 200 adults and children joined elected officials on the summit of Stone Mountain,
referenced in the speech delivered before 250,000 people during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
On that sweltering day in 1963, when King called for freedom to ring
from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire, the mighty mountains of New York,
the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania, the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado,
and the curvaceous slopes of California, he also said:

“But not only that: Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.”

Let us not forget these words either,

“….This is our hope.

This is the faith that I will go back to the South with.

With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair

a stone of hope….”

The Stone Mountain of his day was a favorite rallying place for the Ku Klux Klan,

a point noted by several elected officials during the 90-minute program of speeches, prayer and music leading up to the bell ceremony.

The Stone Mountain ceremony and bell-ringing was replicated in Washington where Obama,

the nation’s first African-American President, spoke from the same spot where King delivered his speech five decades earlier.

In a speech punctuated with “because they marched,” the president said that laws changed,

legislatures changed and that even the White House changed, but that income inequality,

troubled inner cities and stagnant wages amid growing corporate profits demonstrate that challenges remain.

A Message of New Hope

“Because they kept marching, America changed,” he said.

“Because they marched, a civil rights law was passed. Because they marched,

a voting rights law was signed. Because they marched, doors of opportunity and education swung open.”

Obama said that King’s generation dared to dream differently, to imagine something better.

“I am convinced that same imagination, the same hunger of purpose stirs in this generation,” he said.

“We might not face the same dangers of 1963, but the fierce urgency of now remains.

We may never duplicate the swelling crowds and dazzling procession of that day so long ago – no one can match King’s brilliance –

but the same flame that lit the heart of all who are willing to take a first step for justice,

I know that flame remains.”

After the speech, King’s surviving children – Martin Luther III, Bernice and Dexter King – his granddaughter, 5-year-old Yolanda Renee King,

and other family members rang the bell that once hung in the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala.,

where four little girls were killed during a racially motivated bombing in 1963.

When state Sen. Emanuel Jones and Stone Mountain Mayor Patricia Wheeler rang a Freedom Bell

outside the visitor’s center on top of the mountain at 3 p.m.,

they were accompanied by a group of small children ringing hand bells.

The bells rang at the exact hour that the late civil rights leader began his speech five decades ago.

Students Lunye’ Powers, Diamond Ellis and Cornaya Byrd from the Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Atlanta

divided King’s speech into three parts and read it aloud.

Speaking to the crowd, DeKalb interim CEO Lee May said the marchers of 50 years ago knocked down barriers.

“They fought and raised their voices for those who didn’t have a voice of their own,” he said.

“They said no more drinking from separate water fountains, no more eating at separate lunch counters,

or being forced to use separate restrooms.”

But May said inequality lingers in too many key areas of life.

“We have a way to go before we see full equality in educational opportunity and economic status,” he said.

Wheeler, a lifelong metro Atlanta resident, said she had the privilege

of witnessing the blessings that flowed from the sacrifices of King and others in the civil rights movement.

“In downtown Stone Mountain Village, we have a huge Freedom Bell, a gift from Chuck Burris,

the first African-American mayor of Stone Mountain,” she said.

“The bell is a daily reminder of how far we’ve come and how far we have to go.”

The program featured a color guard of DeKalb Police and State Patrol officers;

songs by soloist Ricky Victrum, an alumnus of the Atlanta Boy Choir;

and interfaith prayers from Bennie Wilkerson of Camp Creek Church of Christ, Audrey Galex of Congregation Bet Haverim,

Dan Phillips of Shambhala Buddhist Center, Rahgu V. Granhige of Hindu Temple of Atlanta,

and Gogi Basi from the Sikh Community of Atlanta.

Before the program, about 50 people took part in a “Freedom March” up a trail to the mountain’s summit.

As he made it up the mountain with his wife and two daughters,

David Soleil of Decatur loved being greeted with the sound of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech over the loudspeaker.

“It was a truly inspirational moment,” he said, choking back emotion. …..”

The Final State:

the End of Representative

The terrible truth about what is currently going on in America is the racial truth about the “Stonewall” in Washington DC…a blockade against doing anything for the American people: because our president is black. This seems to have aroused the ire of some rich white folks who are also Senators; and the corporations who bankroll them.

Barack Hussein Obama’s other crime for which they want to impeach him is for passing legislation providing health care for the poor, and that is the unforgivable sin, according to them: they have voted to repeal it 42 times.

It’s obvious that this is what bothers them the most: poor people having health care, in the richest nation on earth.

The amazing thing is that it is caused by those who never got over the fact that black people deserve equal rights: and that one of them is now been voted President: twice.

It is not hard to observe that for them, this is a crime.

Varina Anne Davis

Varina Anne Davis

The Daughter of the Confederacy

Varina Anne Davis was the youngest of six children born to Confederate President Jefferson F. Davis and his wife Varina Howell Davis. Born on June 27, 1864, in the White House of the Confederacy, she was known affectionately to her family as “Winnie.”

According to the United Daughters of the Confederacy Magazine (volume LVII, number 8, p. 4, September 1994),

“In 1896 Winnie…accompanied her father on a trip to Atlanta, Georgia. During a train stop at West Point, Georgia, General John B. Gordon, who was escorting the group to Atlanta, introduced Winnie for the first time as ‘…the Daughter of the Confederacy…’ Southern women took this name to heart and further honored her by choosing the name ‘Daughters of the Confederacy’ for their organizations in their work with Confederate veterans and their families.”

Winnie lived with her parents at Beauvoir near Biloxi, Mississippi, throughout the 1880s and became a great favorite with veterans across the South, whose reunions and rallies she attended regularly with her father. So proprietary did they feel about their adored Winnie that they raised a great outcry when it became known that she was being romanced by Alfred C. (Fred) Wilkinson, a young New York attorney whose grandfather had been a leading light in the abolitionist movement.
Although Jefferson and Varina gave their blessings to an eventual marriage, the couple’s 1890 engagement didn’t last long.
Some believe that the public furor ended the relationship, but more recent evidence indicates that Wilkinson’s financial situation may have been more to blame.
Winnie and Varina moved to New York City in 1891 following Jefferson Davis’s death in 1889, where both actively pursued careers in literature. Although Varina would eventually publish a monumental two-volume biography of her husband, Winnie’s aspirations were cut short.
In 1898, while visiting in Rhode Island, she succumbed to “malarial gastritis.” The Daughter of the Confederacy was dead at the age of 34.
In keeping with the reverence in which she was held by  former Confederates, Winnie Davis was buried with full military honors in Richmond’s Hollywood Cemetery. A year later, on November 9, 1899 — at the sixth General convention of the organization that now bears her name — a monument depicting a mourning angel was unveiled at her gravesite. A sonnet composed especially for the occasion by Dr. Henry M. Clarkson was read to the United Daughters of the Confederacy General convention in honor of the dedication ceremonies.

A Song of the South

“The Night they drove Ole’ Dixie Down”

“…….Virgil Caine is the name and I served on the Danville train

‘Til Stoneman’s cavalry came and tore up the tracks again

In the winter of  ’65, we were hungry, just barely alive

By May the tenth, Richmond had  fell

It’s a time I remember, oh so well

The night they drove old Dixie down

And the bells were  ringing

The night they drove old Dixie down

And the people were  singing

They went, “La, la, la”

Back with my wife in Tennessee, when one day she called to  me

“Virgil, quick, come see, there go the Robert E.Lee”

Now I don’t mind  choppin’ wood, and I don’t care if the money’s no good

Ya take what ya need  and ya leave the rest

But they should never have taken the very best

The night they drove old Dixie down

And the bells were  ringing

The night they drove old Dixie down

And all the people were  singing

They went, “La, la, la”

Like my father before me, I will work the land

And like my  brother above me, who took a rebel stand

He was just eighteen, proud and  brave, but a Yankee laid him in his grave

I swear by the mud below my  feet

You can’t raise a Caine back up when he’s in defeat

The night they drove old Dixie down

And the bells were  ringing

The night they drove old Dixie down

And all the people were  singing

They went, “Na, na, na”

The night they drove old Dixie down

And all the bells were  ringing

The night they drove old Dixie down

And the people were  singing They went, “Na, na, na”……”

The INSURRECTION of the Tea Party: and the New ‘Uncivil’ Civil War in DC

The Restoration of the Union in America, a solution beyond the rise of a New Confederacy:

the Raising of Cain

In truth our nation now faces the work left undone in which those of the Confederacy and the rest of stalwart racists, and haters of their brethren, as they now evince their bigotry in every pronouncement has come to pass: the poor and the downtrodden are nothing new, but to tar them with the brush which was once reserved only for black people has now broadened the brush-stroke to Hispanics, gay people, and anyone who had the effrontery to have voted for President Obama: twice. This, seemingly, is too much for the disguised, but still racist South, to bear.

But as we now have a thin veneer of legality in those southern states who have now declared “open season” as “stand your ground” as a very real agenda of a racially profiled assault on black people by shooting them down on sight we now have the zenith of every issue not covered in the America psyche between North and South since the Civil Right Act passed: three days after Dr. King was killed.

For those who think that was a coincidence I ask that they take a closer look of who died and why; so that we could have the beginnings of real racial equality and equal rights as guaranteed in our Constitution in a very real application of the only solution to stop what has now come to our Nation to fragment our country into an unending “red and blue state” dichotomy that will never be resolved: ever. But the reason is simple; the Rich now want it all: they want Tyranny, and an end to any pretense of Justice.

People forget that Sarah Palin’s husband belonged to a paramilitary group that wanted Alaska to secede from the Union, and now we see similar sentiments everywhere. These are danger signs, but the real issue is what has happened since the polarizing trend on unequal income distribution has made the entire middle class declare themselves at risk, while at the same time the South has decided to demonize the poor in their borders, criminalize homelessness, and start justifying their unending attempts to destroy America to preserve the economic fact that America is really the world’s largest banana republic: in truth.

Our income inequality and obscene wealth distribution now has the worst ratio in the entire world: bar none, exponentially ascertainable to anyone who can read the glaring headlines of the class-war now in play, in total contradistinction to the real dimension in our status as the richest nation on earth.

Some one decided that that should end. Why? Because of the fact no one wants to add to the equation: the emergence of the Black Christian Race here in America who the White Youth of My Generation joined in the 60’s, an alliance which produced the Third Israel. What occurred in the Western hemisphere from 1492 until the birth of Martin Luther King in 1929 has everything to do with what we are facing now: but no one can see it, due to the failure of someone who was to have brought us together.

Instead they put Newt Gingrich forward as a presidential candidate, the man responsible for the last government shutdown, as some may recall.

Who was his patron?

           Sun Myung Moon,

the failed Messiah of the Right-wing in America,

even though they crowned him their king in the Dirksen building in Washington DC.

The End of the Separation of Church and State???

Now we are reaping what they sowed; a kingdom of the Rich ideologically bound to a corrupt theology of Social Darwinism coupled with self-entitled deity, as Wealth has now become the sure sign of God’s favor and the yardstick of one’s righteousness. In short what this means is this: if you are rich then you are better than everyone else: and God loves you, because you have more than anyone else. This is their ‘proof”.

Their theology is basically this: “I got mine: too bad for you, and the devil take the hindmost on all  you poor sinners who didn’t make the grade”, in the game by which we blame the victims instead of the economically rigged and unleveled playing field.

Now they want a Corporate Caste System even more Leviathanic in structure that that of India: and just as permanent. No upward mobility for any who will not take the Mark of the Beast, that Mark of Mammon, especially for all those who love to hate their brother.

          Their motto?

“Am I my brother’s Keeper???”

A resounding “No!!!”,

now echoes across the economic desolation in America,

sounding from the bulging coffers of these men of Cain,

the men of Belial;

and the lies they always spew wherever they turn, to justify their ungodly immoral philosophy of worshipping Mammon,

and of their smug class superiority in their millions,

and the real glee and joy they evince

in oppressing the poor and helpless at every turn.

Their love of victimizing the poor and disenfranchised has now reached it’s satanic height: they will take food out of the mouths of homeless war veterans and children: because they are able to destroy those who have no money or support system very easily.

They will make sure no one can vote who is not a card-carrying right-wing zealot by demanding 300 forms of identification on election day, and then making the place of voting 200 miles from any location any could easily reach: and on and on….
